The Points Guy: Where You Must Visit Right Now

Now is the best time to plan to visit Europe, according to travel expert Brian Kelly (founder of Brian recommends the following tips when it comes to planning your dream European vacation at an affordable price:

1. Go to Italy and France

With the Euro currently being at $1.07, it’s a great opportunity to explore typically expensive countries such as Italy and France.

2. Find lower cost airlines

While the Euro may continue to slide, it could also go back up so you should lock in future travel now and take advantage of low cost carriers like WOW Air, Norwegian Air and La Compagnie.

3. Book now

Lower fuel prices are bringing down airfare as well. Now is the time to purchase tickets, especially if you’re planning on visiting Europe during the summer since international airfare tends to skyrocket as the date approaches. The longer you wait, the more you’re likely to pay.

4. Take advantage of credit card bonuses

Be sure to take advantage of credit-card sign up bonuses, which alone can defray huge summer vacation costs. For instance, American Express is currently offering a 100,000-mile sign-up bonus for certain cards, which is enough for an international round-trip business class ticket.

5. Use apps for discounted hotels and transportation

Looking for discounted hotels and transportation? Apps such as HotelTonight and Uber (your first ride is free up to $20) also offer sign-up bonuses for new members.
