Disney World: New Attractions for the Whole Family

With Spring officially upon us, and summer coming just around the corner, it’s only natural for us to start thinking of great trips to take while the kids are on school vacation. As we all know by now, there’s no better place to take the whole family than Disney World in Orlando, FL. Although Disney World has long been an extremely popular tourist destination, Disney Imagineers are always looking to make improvements to their parks in order to live up to being “The Most Magical Place on Earth”.

This summer the Disney parks are introducing several new attractions that will appeal to all travelers. Whether you’re a Disney expert or a first-time visitor, the new additions to the park will excite everyone headed to the parks this summer. The following new attractions merely scratch the surface when it comes to the several improvements being made by Disney in the coming years.

Fit for Royalty
The new home for visiting royalty in the Magic Kingdom, Princess Fairytale Hall features walls of stone and stained glass windows, a spacious gallery adorned with portraits of Disney princesses and elegantly finished rooms where guests can meet Cinderella, Rapunzel and other princesses. Part of the largest Magic Kingdom expansion in history, Princess Fairytale Hall is located in the Castle Courtyard in the center of Fantasyland at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. New Kid-Friendly Attractions

If you ask any child who’s been to Disney World what their favorite park is, you will most likely get a different answer from each. We all have our own preferences when it comes to which parks they want to spend the majority of their time. Luckily for us, Disney has developed new attractions for every park, allowing everyone to check out new additions to their favorite parks.

For those who love Animal Kingdom, a new Pandora-themed attraction will open on May 27th based on the 2009 blockbuster hit, Avatar, will be sure to catch your eye. In this new part of the park, visitors will be able to travel down a river within a scenic rainforest and then take in a spectacular show at night that features dramatic sound and lighting effects.

Everyone loves to head to Magic Kingdom to watch the fireworks display over Cinderella’s Castle. Disney is going to use this success to introduce another nighttime show  in the same location, where storytelling and pyrotechnics are combined to urge viewers to find their very own “happily ever after”. This inspiring show is perfect for the whole family and can be found in one of the most popular parts of Disney World.

Disney has also already introduced their very own Typhoon Lagoon called Miss Adventure Falls. This attraction features a two-minute raft ride where families can take a white-water rafting adventure centered around the treasure of Captain Mary Oceaneer. Miss Adventure Falls is the longest attraction at Typhoon Lagoon.

Minnie Mouse Greets Guests at Disney's Hollywood Studios
Minnie Mouse greets guests inside a specially themed area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios called “Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams.” Minnie appears as a Tinsel Town starlet in a ritzy setting straight out of a colorful musical extravaganza. Here, guests can get Minnie’s autograph, snap their own photos with her, and a Disney PhotoPass photographer is on hand to capture all of the special moments. (David Roark, photographer)

New Attractions for Adults

While Disney Land is usually considered a paradise for children, new attractions introduced will also appeal to the adults visiting the parks. Disney Springs offers several new dining, drinking, and entertainment options for those looking for more adult-friendly nightlife. New venues include: Planet Hollywood Observatory, Paddlefish, The Polite Pig, and The Edison. Each of these options includes live entertainment, craft beer selections, celebrity chefs, or DJs.

In mid-2017, Disney will open a new venue at the ESPN Wide World of Sports that will host events such as volleyball, basketball, and even concerts. This venue will be able to hold approximately 8,000 fans for events that are perfect for the whole family.

For those looking for an unforgettable place to stay with the whole family, look no further than the LEGOLAND Florida Resort. Located inside the resort, the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat offers 83 beach-themed bungalows along with 166 rooms. The bungalows offer play areas for kids outside with shaded patios that can help your family combat the warm weather.
